hi list, I and a friend we use/like kopete, but at the same time we kind of hate it, it works well but the user interface is really bad from our pov.
We have several ideas to make it better but we believe not everyone will like it, we started a fork in gitorious named KIM to get an idea of the code and how hard would it be, after talking with boiko I decided to post here since I'd like not to fork, I'm involved in too many projects already. As the project seems to be a bit dead (not many commits in svn) I tought that not too many people would complain about some changes in the ui (if you want to have an idea get the gitorious code, it's far from done but it'll give you an idea). I'd like to hear from you if I can start hacking directly on trunk or you want kopete the way it's. Another idea would be having a kopete 2 like amarok 2 that is very different from 1.4. My friend is skilled in java but I'm helping him to do qt stuff in cpp, he is removing compiling warnings from the code. Also as I don't have much time the changes won't happen so fast which is one of the reasons a kopete 2 would be good.
