If you can, update to the Kopete currently available from the KDE 3.5
branch of KDE's subversion repository. There are instructions on how
you can do at http://kopete.kde.org/svnaccess.php. It assumes that
you've self-compiled software before. There was a commit that we
believe will fix the black screen issue with the video
