I just upgraded recently from 3.5.3 to 3.5.4 (gentoo linux), and this behaviour
started happening with Kopete for all our users with Jabber accounts.
You can remove the "EMPTY " account, but it gets autocreated again next time
Kopete is launched.
The only fix seems to be to rm -rf .kde/share/apps/kopete, and rm
.kde/share/config/kopeterc and recreate your accounts. What a pain!
