I ran into the same problem and it seems it is all about the installed Kernel
headers.
debian has a package called "linux-kernel-headers" which is version 2.5.999 for
Sarge. Note, this package does not rely on the actual installed Kernel version.
I downloaded the same package for etch (testing) from packages.debian.org and
installed it (will not change anything else but the headers installed at
/usr/include/linux). After that, kopete compiled without a problem.
It might also be possible to make /usr/include/linux a symlink to the recent
header files in /usr/src if you have installed any (I have not tested this!).
Anyway, I wonder why this video thing is needed for kopete and why I cannot
disable it with configure.
