Please consider extreme conditions, like:
- Working out of office or home, were networks are jammed and loose connections.
- Working on wireless network, where one may frequently get out of access
points reach, like using laptop at university library.
- Running a IM protocol over VPN or ssh tunnel, that may not be connected or
may not stay connected often.
- Or a day when IT department is doing a lot of maintenance on network...
- Even worse, using old fashioned dial up, but disconnecting often to save
money :-) !
