Well, it should be a bug. The reason is when chatting with people on other IM
programs, and the RTF button is turned on, the other user may get blank lines
or garbage before and after the text you send because they don't or can't
support the RTF. So each time you open a chat, you have to remember to turn
off the RTF button.
