Hi,
I didn't realize that it was the same installation/library.
What I was trying to find out with the test was if this was the old
issue or a new one. If the test didn't result in a doubled up
itemnumber, this might be something else.
Maybe someone else has an idea how this could happen. As the itemnumber
is set by the database, I am not sure how it's possible.
Re-adding the mailing list.

Do you mean resetting the auto increment count?

Yes, I can test that the documented fix works as you decribe, but
that's not the concern either Christina or myself have raised. Which
is more about understanding why the issue has re-occured in an
installation with that fix applied following an update, and
understanding if that documented fix is still relevant.
All the best,
Chris

Hi Chris,
in this case I think it would be good to have the exact Koha
version and the DBMS version to be able to investigate further.
Also verifying if the script does what it's supposed to -
resetting the PK counters on MySQL restart might be good.
What you can do:
* Create an item, note the itemnumber
* Delete it
* Restart MySQL
* Create a new item
* Verify the itemnumber - if it's the same as the deleted item,
something is not right yet.
Hope that helps,
Katrin

Hi Katrin,
These points are addressed in the email Christina sites:

The problem is exactly recurrence of the issue, after the fix
described in the Wiki had been applied, and with a more recent
version of the db.
All the best,
Chris

Hi Christina,
did you see the wiki page about the issue?
https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/DBMS_auto_increment_fix
It should only appear with certain older versions of DBMS. So
this would
be a first thing to check.
If you happen to use one of the older versions, maybe
consider updating.
Otherwise you will have to implement the script described in
the wiki.
Hope this helps,
Katrin
