Hello all, I managed to find how to get the error logs to show up, so I'm posting here in the hope that someone will recognize the errors and help me solve them:

UNIMARC, not at all. :-) If you go to Administration --> System preferences --> Cataloging preferences --> Record structure --> itemcallnumber you can choose which MARC subfields will be displayed in the Call Number field. For UDC it would be 080ab. Then go up to Interface --> DefaultClassificationSource and select Universal Decimal Classification.
