Debian has daemon version 0.6.4 (see http://packages.debian.org/daemon ) and it works there, so maybe the interface changed or there's a bug. Check "man daemon" and edit the koha-zebra-ctl.sh as needed (and I doubt that should be in /bin so your installation may be a bit broken in other ways).
