I had this exact same problem with a Koha development version prior to Koha 3.0 Final and reported it in the Koha Bugs Database (Bugzilla): Bug 2419 - Adding a Vendor crashes Koha (error in updateseller.pl file) http://bugs.koha.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2419 Like I said in that bug report, I have the same setup that you have: openSUSE 11.0 that runs Perl 5.10.0 In 27-Aug-2008, Joe Atzberger (from LibLime) submitted a patch that corrects this problem (I'm setting up again "git" in my openSUSE 11.0 Virtual Machine, so I did not have the opportunity to test this patch myself yet). This patch from Joe Atzberger was released *after* the Koha 3.0 release (Koha 3.0 Final was released on 11-Aug-2008), so I'm guessing that you'll have to update your Koha to the current development version ( from Koha's git repository - http://git.koha.org/ ) or wait for a later "stable" version that has this fix.
