Brave plan :) I am just wondering if the benefits of this new group reserve concept will outweigh the costs for additional complexity in code that is already hard to maintain and should be moved/refactored. Note that holds are affected by a lot of preferences (with interesting combinations) that will need to be tested against these changes.
Compare that against the fact that currently a user can already place a hold on these three titles he wants. And could cancel the other two holds as soon as the first available is waiting for pickup. Instead of adding the group, could you just make it easier for the user to place those three holds on the same title in multiple biblios?
