Uh oh, that does present a problem. In the MARC frameworks, when you use an AV
as a dropdown of controlled terms, there is no choice of which AV field it
fills in—it always uses the ID. So if we cannot have spaces in AV IDs then we
cannot use them to control many metadata fields, not just RDA Carrier and
Content (Media just so happens to not have any terms with spaces in it) but any
other term list containing terms with spaces. It's a pretty severe limitation.

You could put the code in the ID and the term in lib—this is already what I've
done with the RDACARRIER_CODE, RDACONTENT_CODE, and RDAMEDIA_CODE. The issue is
you won't be able to use these AV lists to fill in the values for the
human-readable $a subfield values.
