We restrict editing borrower information like address, phone number, etc. to Circ staff only as we were having some inconsistencies with how people were doing this with our last ILS which affected our usage statistics and consequently our funding formula (we're regional so we get funding from 3 different jurisdictions which is determined by circulation of the patrons in each so if someone puts an incorrect jurisdiction in by accident or doesn't check for the correct verification, it will create inconsistencies which happened in the past which is why the permission is restricted). However, because we have self checkouts throughout the library, when users hit a PIN/password block on these, they have to go to the Circ desk to update this rather than the closest service point, and librarians at these other points are reporting that people are frustrated they have to go to Circ and cannot get the PIN/password updated anywhere so they don't end up checking out the books they wanted.
