I did a little more testing this morning and confirmed that BatchCheckoutsValidCategories is being enforced based on the category of the account used to activate the SCO, rather than the account of the patron. In KTD by default that's the self-check user, who is in category Staff. I did the following test: 1 - Enable BatchCheckouts, select nothing in BatchCheckoutsValidCategories 2 - confirm AutoSelfCheckAllowed is allowed and contains the username and password for the self_check user.
