Currently, self checkout requires a patron to use staff machines. This is
understandable, if you have security equipment to desensitize items.
A new thought in workflow is to allow patrons the ability to check out items
via their own device. The patron would sign in on the OPAC on their device, go
to a Check Out tab, and start scanning barcodes with their camera. All self
check rules would still apply. The only thing that would be different is that
checkout receipts are e-mailed or not. There would be no option for printing a
receipt.
