When we originally designed it this way the goal was simplicity for the sake of patron-friendliness: Why show the user information about where the item *isn't*? But it's obviously more complicated than that for a lot of libraries and users. I think a solution is needed but I'm not sure this is it. I find this a little bit hard for my eye to scan.
