I made a small change to the STEP exporter: https://gitlab.com/cbernardo/kicad
The change implements the creation of STEP models based on IDF outlines. This makes it possible for users to specify simple extruded models for some parts and more complex STEP models where the size and form matter. Although in code freeze, this only affects the (standalone) STEP exporter and should have no impact on the main KiCad suite so I think it's safe to put it in. Let me know if a merge for this change would be OK and I can create the merge request.
