This only occurs if debug level logging to the serial console is enabled - which is not the default in Ubuntu. [Test Case] Enable debug logging: $ echo 'setenv bootargs "$bootargs debug"' > /etc/flash-kernel/ubootenv.d/debug $ sudo flash-kernel And reboot. [Regression Risk] The MSI code being modified in question is only used on X-Gene systems, so risk to other systems is insignificant. In addition, the code being removed are just debug statements that aren't emitted by default today in Ubuntu, so even for X-Gene systems it is a minimal risk.
