Well i have the same problem with the tg3 driver @ Broadcom 5719 NIC and HP ProLiant DL385 G8 server. Under Ubuntu 14.04, kernel 3.13.x. I get the transmit timed out, resetting and the long table with hex codes in DMESG. But it worked well with 3.8 kernels on Ubuntu 12.x I'm going to try changing the clock source (TSC selected by the kernel). I'll try forcing PIT or HPET. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1152580 Title: 14e4:165f [Dell PowerEdge R520] BCM95720 Network disconnects and resets Status in The Dell PowerEdge project: Confirmed Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The server is constantly going on and offline here are messages and hardware Details: [ 4.394703] tg3 0000:02:00.0: eth0: Tigon3 [partno(BCM95720) rev 5720000] (PCI Express) MAC address 90:b1:1c:0d:d4:aa [ 4.394713] tg3 0000:02:00.0: eth0: attached PHY is 5720C (10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet) (WireSpeed[1], EEE[1]) [ 4.394720] tg3 0000:02:00.0: eth0: RXcsums[1] LinkChgREG[0] MIirq[0] ASF[1] TSOcap[1] [ 4.394726] tg3 0000:02:00.0: eth0: dma_rwctrl[00000001] dma_mask[64-bit] The dump to dmesg: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1152580/+attachment/3939814/+files/log ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: linux-image-3.2.0-38-generic 3.2.0-38.61 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-38.61-generic 3.2.37 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-38-generic x86_64 AlsaDevices: total 0 crw-rw---T 1 root audio 116, 1 Mar 8 13:26 seq crw-rw---T 1 root audio 116, 33 Mar 8 13:26 timer AplayDevices: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu17.1 Architecture: amd64 ArecordDevices: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory AudioDevicesInUse: Error: command ['fuser', '-v', '/dev/snd/seq', '/dev/snd/timer'] failed with exit code 1: CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory Date: Fri Mar 8 14:21:45 2013 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=f9a32355-70b4-462b-a01e-2665b81b2ec0 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Server 12.04.1 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release amd64 (20120817.3) MachineType: Dell Inc.
