Hi, I'm getting the same trouble as Mikael running linux- image-2.6.32-61-server on multiple machines.
I didn't try sound but firefox for sure locks it up. Ctrl-Alt-F1 to a console still works as does ssh, where you can kill the X server and get back to the login screen. Mouse works but clicking on things becomes unresponsive. rebooting and selecting linux-image-2.6.32-60-server with grub gets it back to a usable state, but there is definitely something amiss in the new kernel image. nVidia proprietary driver is being used by both systems locking up (both AMD PhenomII X6). (where else would Jacco have gotten the new package upgrade anyway?) thanks, Hamish ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1327220 Title: No sound after kernel upgrade Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: After a kernel upgrade to linux-image-2.6.32-61-generic sound has stopped working. Sound applications hang and no sound is produced. "ubuntu-bug -s audio" does produce the first test tone but not the second one. Any subsequent attempt to close apport then causes it to stop responding. After rebooting with the previous kernel (linux- image-2.6.32-60-generic) sound works as before. Machine is a Dell E5500 laptop with HDA-Intel sound hardware.
