Hi, Christopher! Thanks for your guide. I installed the packages following the link you provided. When booting into Ubuntu, the screen starts flicking, and cannot use it. It seems that the temperature is not going up, because I can connect via ssh, and there launch vncserver just to put some load into my machine. Checking the temperature, after 30 minutes using Thunderbird, Firefox and Chromium, the output of "sensors" is what follows:
coretemp-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter Physical id 0: +59.0°C (high = +87.0°C, crit = +105.0°C) Core 0: +59.0°C (high = +87.0°C, crit = +105.0°C) Core 1: +59.0°C (high = +87.0°C, crit = +105.0°C) Core 2: +59.0°C (high = +87.0°C, crit = +105.0°C) Core 3: +55.0°C (high = +87.0°C, crit = +105.0°C) radeon-pci-0100 Adapter: PCI adapter temp1: +52.5°C Looks good. But no video, and no audio! I tried to reproduce some audio, with no luck, using a VNC client. I used CLI for this, just to avoid confussion and to send the output to the speakers. The network of course works, wired and wireless. If there is some trick to bring up audio & video here, I think I'll have the issue solved. Now this issue appears as "Incomplete", must I change its status to something different? Thanks a lot, and best regards, HeCSa. Pressing "Esc" when booting, I can read in the boot messages something like: Not starting fancontrol; run pwmconfig first. This message also appears in the boot.log. I tried to execute pwmconfig, but this is my output: root@sdf1:/var/log# pwmconfig # pwmconfig revision 6166 (2013-05-01) This program will search your sensors for pulse width modulation (pwm) controls, and test each one to see if it controls a fan on your motherboard. Note that many motherboards do not have pwm circuitry installed, even if your sensor chip supports pwm. We will attempt to briefly stop each fan using the pwm controls. The program will attempt to restore each fan to full speed after testing. However, it is ** very important ** that you physically verify that the fans have been to full speed after the program has completed. /usr/sbin/pwmconfig: There are no pwm-capable sensor modules installed root@sdf1:/var/log# But when running "sensors", I have an output like this one: root@sdf1:/var/log# sensors coretemp-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter Physical id 0: +44.0°C (high = +87.0°C, crit = +105.0°C) Core 0: +43.0°C (high = +87.0°C, crit = +105.0°C) Core 1: +44.0°C (high = +87.0°C, crit = +105.0°C) Core 2: +43.0°C (high = +87.0°C, crit = +105.0°C) Core 3: +37.0°C (high = +87.0°C, crit = +105.0°C) radeon-pci-0100 Adapter: PCI adapter temp1: +38.5°C root@sdf1:/var/log# As you can see, I boot'ed my machine just a few minutes ago, and this is why it's so cool...in some minutes the battery will suffer because of the fans, or because of the heat. lsmod qives me this output: root@sdf1:/var/log# lsmod Module Size Used by snd_hda_codec_hdmi 46207 2 snd_hda_codec_conexant 57441 1 pci_stub 12622 1 vboxpci 23194 0 vboxnetadp 25670 0 vboxnetflt 27613 0 vboxdrv 339502 3 vboxnetadp,vboxnetflt,vboxpci rfcomm 69160 8 bnep 19624 2 binfmt_misc 17468 1 nls_iso8859_1 12713 1 ath3k 13318 0 btusb 32412 0 uvcvideo 80885 0 videobuf2_vmalloc 13216 1 uvcvideo bluetooth 395423 23 bnep,ath3k,btusb,rfcomm videobuf2_memops 13362 1 videobuf2_vmalloc videobuf2_core 40664 1 uvcvideo videodev 134688 2 uvcvideo,videobuf2_core intel_rapl 18773 0 x86_pkg_temp_thermal 14205 0 intel_powerclamp 14705 0 kvm_intel 143060 0 kvm 451511 1 kvm_intel crct10dif_pclmul 14289 0 crc32_pclmul 13113 0 ghash_clmulni_intel 13259 0 aesni_intel 55624 0 aes_x86_64 17131 1 aesni_intel lrw 13286 1 aesni_intel gf128mul 14951 1 lrw glue_helper 13990 1 aesni_intel ablk_helper 13597 1 aesni_intel cryptd 20359 3 ghash_clmulni_intel,aesni_intel,ablk_helper arc4 12608 2 snd_hda_intel 52355 7 snd_hda_codec 192906 3 snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_hda_codec_conexant,snd_hda_intel snd_hwdep 13602 1 snd_hda_codec joydev 17381 0 ath9k 164164 0 snd_pcm 102099 3 snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_hda_codec,snd_hda_intel serio_raw 13462 0 ath9k_common 13551 1 ath9k ath9k_hw 453856 2 ath9k_common,ath9k snd_page_alloc 18710 2 snd_pcm,snd_hda_intel snd_seq_midi 13324 0 radeon 1514165 3 snd_seq_midi_event 14899 1 snd_seq_midi ath 28698 3 ath9k_common,ath9k,ath9k_hw snd_rawmidi 30144 1 snd_seq_midi mac80211 626489 1 ath9k lpc_ich 21080 0 snd_seq 61560 2 snd_seq_midi_event,snd_seq_midi snd_seq_device 14497 3 snd_seq,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_midi snd_timer 29482 2 snd_pcm,snd_seq ttm 85115 1 radeon cfg80211 484040 3 ath,ath9k,mac80211 drm_kms_helper 52758 1 radeon mei_me 18627 0 snd 69238 25 snd_hwdep,snd_timer,snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_hda_codec_conexant,snd_pcm,snd_seq,snd_rawmidi,snd_hda_codec,snd_hda_intel,snd_seq_device,snd_seq_midi mei 82274 1 mei_me drm 302817 5 ttm,drm_kms_helper,radeon soundcore 12680 1 snd i2c_algo_bit 13413 1 radeon toshiba_acpi 22901 0 toshiba_bluetooth 12852 0 sparse_keymap 13948 1 toshiba_acpi wmi 19177 1 toshiba_acpi video 19476 0 mac_hid 13205 0 parport_pc 32701 0 ppdev 17671 0 coretemp 13435 0 lp 17759 0 parport 42348 3 lp,ppdev,parport_pc hid_generic 12548 0 usbhid 52616 0 hid 106148 2 hid_generic,usbhid ahci 25819 5 psmouse 102222 0 atl1c 46086 0 libahci 32168 1 ahci root@sdf1:/var/log# Please, if you have any clue about whan can I do to use my machine with Ubuntu, I'll appreciate it.
