Running the apport command prompted me to install some python thing, and after that, running it again, some window came up saying that it was collecting information, then it froze for 30 minutes until I had to kill the command, so that doesn't work.

The screen stays black, if I hit ctrl+alt+f1 and then type in a login name and hit enter, the cursor goes down a line and nothing happens after that. No "password" line come up.
