I installed bumblebee and now the problem is fixed. My computer did hang during the bumblebee installation, but after rebooting and running "sudo dpkg --configure -a" and rebooting again, the issue is fixed.
I used this command to install bumblebee: sudo apt-get install bumblebee bumblebee-nvidia primus linux-headers-generic bbswitch-dkms mesa-utils nvidia-331-updates -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1310276 Title: Computer hangs whem opening system settings Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: My computer hangs when I open the System Settings in Ubuntu 14.04.
