Bug description:
The integrated webcam does not work on Ubuntu 24.04 with kernel
6.14.0-29-generic.
Cheese, Camera app, and ffplay all show a black screen.
The uvcvideo module is loaded, but no video stream is decoded.
When I cover the webcam with my finger, the placeholder disappears, so the
hardware is functioning.
Technical details:
- Webcam device: /dev/video0
- Supported formats (from v4l2-ctl --list-formats-ext):
MJPG: 1280x720, 640x480, 320x240, etc.
YUYV: 640x480, 320x240, etc.
- ffplay output shows "EOI missing, emulating" for MJPG and black screen for
YUYV.
- Attempts made:
1. Reloader uvcvideo with quirks=128
2. Switching kernels (6.14.0-27, 6.14.0-29)
3. Using Cheese and Camera app
- Result: Webcam still shows black screen, no video captured.
