I created a machine with noble using multipass, and I checked that for Noble the suggestion still exists: ubuntu@ubuntu2404:~$ apt show linux-image-6.14.0-1007-oracle|grep fdutils
WARNING: apt does not have a stable CLI interface. Use with caution in scripts. Suggests: fdutils, linux-oracle-6.14-doc-6.14.0 | linux- oracle-6.14-source-6.14.0, linux-oracle-6.14-tools, linux- headers-6.14.0-1007-oracle I marked as failed because of that. ** Tags removed: verification-needed-noble-linux-oracle-6.14 ** Tags added: verification-failed-noble-linux-oracle-6.14 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-gcp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2104355 Title: Don't suggests fdutils package anymore Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in linux-gcp package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in linux-oem-6.14 package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in linux source package in Noble: Invalid Status in linux-gcp source package in Noble: Fix Committed Status in linux-oem-6.14 source package in Noble: Fix Committed Bug description: The newer Linux kernel, more specifically 6.14, still suggests fdutils package. This can be strange since it's a group of utilities for floppy disks, and maybe there are people who could install thinking there are benefits doing it when probably there are none. The idea is checking if we can remove fdutils from suggestions. I understand that suggestions, different from recommendations, are not installed together by default, but this move should keep things more organized and clean.
