Bug description:
Seen on Dell Inspiron E1505 with integrated Intel graphics 945GM and
using intel i810 driver. If you connect an external LCD/CRT monitor to
the VGA port and cycle through all display modes using Fn+F8 , it
works for the first few times and then the screen goes blank and only
way to recover the system is to reboot it.
rez@rez-laptop:~$ sudo dpkg -l | grep xserver-xorg-video-i810
ii xserver-xorg-video-i810 1.7.4-0ubuntu1
X.Org X server -- Intel i8xx, i9xx display driver
rez@rez-laptop:~$ lspci -v | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/940GML
Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) (prog-if 00 [VGA])
