[Fix] v6.13-rc1 commit ac0cba6837729 ("HID: intel-ish-hid: Add firmware version sysfs attributes") introduced two (optional) sysfs attributes, base_version and project_version under firmware node for further reference. [Test Case] 1. With proposed kernel installed 2. With additional Intel ISH firmware blobs that supports version info in the header manifest, e.g. blobs proposed for bug 2094768. 3. check if sysfs attributes for the ish firmware become available: ``` $ cat /sys/devices/pci0000\:00/0000\:00\:12.0/firmware/base_version 5.8.0.7716 $ cat /sys/devices/pci0000\:00/0000\:00\:12.0/firmware/project_version 5.8.0.12472 ``` [Where problems could occur] This extracts optional version info from the binary blob. No other side effect. [Other Info] While this depends on custom firmware loading from bug 2094768, nominate for series with kernel v6.11 and on. ========== original bug report ========== In order to retrieve additional information for Intel ISH firmware, v6.13-rc1 commit ac0cba6837729 ("HID: intel-ish-hid: Add firmware version sysfs attributes") introduced two (optional) sysfs attributes, base_version and project_version under firmware node for further reference: $ cat /sys/devices/pci0000\:00/0000\:00\:12.0/firmware/base_version 5.8.0.7716 $ cat /sys/devices/pci0000\:00/0000\:00\:12.0/firmware/project_version 5.8.0.12472 See https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=ac0cba683772991b1100e2b26065c188e00a46fe --- ProblemType: Bug ApportVersion: 2.28.1-0ubuntu3.3 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/seq: ubuntu 1572 F.... pipewire /dev/snd/controlC0: ubuntu 1572 F.... pipewire ubuntu 1577 F.... wireplumber CasperMD5CheckMismatches: ./casper/initrd ./casper/vmlinuz ./casper/minimal.standard.live.hotfix.manifest ./casper/minimal.standard.live.hotfix.size ./casper/minimal.standard.live.size ./casper/minimal.manifest ./casper/minimal.standard.manifest ./casper/minimal.standard.size ./casper/minimal.hotfix.size ./casper/minimal.standard.live.hotfix.squashfs ./casper/minimal.standard.hotfix.squashfs ./casper/minimal.standard.hotfix.size ./casper/minimal.hotfix.squashfs ./casper/minimal.standard.live.manifest ./casper/minimal.size ./boot/grub/grub.cfg CasperMD5CheckResult: fail DistributionChannelDescriptor: # This is the distribution channel descriptor for Ubuntu 24.04 for Dell # For more information see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DistributionChannelDescriptor canonical-oem-somerville-noble-oem-24.04b-proposed-20250120-166 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 24.04 InstallationDate: Installed on 2025-01-20 (1 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu OEM 24.04.1 LTS "Noble Numbat" - Release amd64 (20250119) IwConfig: lo no wireless extensions. enx00e04c43333a no wireless extensions. wlp0s20f3 no wireless extensions.
