Public bug reported: [Impact]
The 6.11 HWE kernel comes with new drivers that need new firmware. Without firmware HW components might not function properly. [Test Case] None. HW is not available for testing. [Where Problems Could Occur] These are new blobs that are not loaded by the GA 6.8 kernel so should not introduce regressions. In some cases, existing blobs might be updated which could render that HW component unusable if there's an incompatibility between the updated firmware and the 6.8 GA kernel. ** Affects: linux-firmware (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux-firmware (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: linux-firmware (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: - Add missing firmwares for 6.11 to Noble. + [Impact] + + The 6.11 HWE kernel comes with new drivers that need new firmware. + Without firmware HW components might not function properly. + + + [Test Case] + + None.
