Hello angros47,

I spent some time researching this today. I'm not sure that it's related
to the bug you mention. The commits in question for that bug are:

* 28ab9769117ca944cb6eb537af5599aa436287a4 - when the bug was introduced
* fa0db8e568787c665384430eaf2221b299b85367 - when the above commit was reverted

However, in searching through the Noble tree, I don't see either of
those commits in the branch.

I further examined the code to confirm that the line in question is as
it should be, before the introduction of 28ab976, and it is.

I looked through the attached apport output (thank you for that), but
didn't see anything obviously broken.

I see that you're currently at Noble (6.8 kernel). One possibility is
upgrading to Oracular (6.11 kernel) to see if that remedies the issue.

As for next steps, I will sync up with my team after the weekend to see
if they have any suggestions on how to proceed.

Title:
S.M.A.R.T. data not available after the last kernel update

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
In gnome-disk-utility the SMART option for my system hard drive (so,
internal hard drive, not external one) is grayed out and not available
after the last kernel upgrade. It worked perfectly before the upgrade.

Could it be related with this bug of Fedora:
