Actually I think I might have deleted the `6.8.0-47-generic` directory myself when I had hard disk space issues while running an LLM experiment, which means this is not a bug. (The modules directory was large and I thought it was no longer used because the kernel was then 6.8.0-48, but I should have removed the packages properly rather than going wild with `sudo ncdu`.)
Now cleaned up with: sudo mkdir -p /lib/modules/6.8.0-47-generic/kernel/nvidia-550/bits sudo touch /lib/modules/6.8.0-47-generic/kernel/nvidia-550/bits/CLEAN sudo apt --purge remove $(dpkg -l | grep ^ii.*6.8.0.47|sed -e 's/.. *//' -e 's/ .*//') sudo rm -rf /lib/modules/6.8.0-47-generic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-restricted-modules in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2089802 Title: package linux-modules-nvidia-550-6.8.0-47-generic 6.8.0-47.47+1 failed to install/upgrade: installed linux-modules- nvidia-550-6.8.0-47-generic package pre-removal script subprocess returned error exit status 1 Status in linux-restricted-modules package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: This came up during a routine Lubuntu upgrade.
