Hi Jakub, I think... I think this is actually fixed in Oracular already. But not in the firefox snap.
If you read this Arch Linux thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=298273 Do you happen to get the green blocks? https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/3437 I think this might fix it: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/30510 Its in mesa, and not the kernel. This landed in mesa 24.2.0, and oracular has 24.2.3, so the patch should be there. Are you using the snap version of firefox? If you do, it has an outdated version of mesa from what orcaular is using, and snaps use their own libraries and not system libraries. If you install firefox manually: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux#w_install- firefox-deb-package-for-debian-based-distributions This will use the system mesa instead. Does it still crash? Thanks, Matthew ** Bug watch added: gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues #3437 https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/3437 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2084883 Title: Video playback on AMD 780m crashes system Status in linux package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: During video playback on Youtube/Firefox, screen turns off for several seconds then comes back up. It usually happens 2-3 times and then it stays black. Video seems to be running in background (i still hear audio) during screen resets, however I mouse and keyboard are unresponsible. Alt-sysrq-o successfully shuts down the machine. I am using KWin (current git version). The bug does not happen every time, but about once a day. It never happened on 24.04 with 6.8 kernel. Attached is journalctl --system output showing kernel errors related amdgpu/VCN problems.
