Thanks for the bug report...

* Regular freezes, either in the ISO live session or on the freshly
installed system.

Let's make this the main issue here. Instead of nomodeset, please try
adding this to /etc/environment:

  MUTTER_DEBUG_FORCE_KMS_MODE=simple

and reboot.

* Issues when running flutter based apps, like Subiquity installer, or
desktop security center, stating that "The renderer could not
initialize".

Please report that at https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues

Title:
Thinkpad x201 having issues without nomodeset

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I have multiple issues when running Oracular on my x201 without
  `nomodeset` in the command line.

  * Regular freezes, either in the ISO live session or on the freshly installed
system.
  * Issues when running flutter based apps, like Subiquity installer, or
desktop security center, stating that "The renderer could not initialize".

I've already tried to set `i915.enable_psr=0` as per bug 2000829, but
it doesn't help with either of those, although maybe the freezes come
  less quickly.
