@lathiat yes yes, i am aware of all of these, and this being resolved
"for good" will be among top 25.04 priorities for me, these symlinks are
clearly not stable enough.

Also tagging this as affecting "linux" as well to have it noted that it
is at least sometimes caused by the kernel "pulling the rug" under the
symlinks.
