Two ports are used on box

DVI port cable (goes to acer 16:10 monitor)
HDMI port cable (goes to dell monitor; one displaying the "Optimum resolution
1280x1024 60Hz" mentioned in initial report, as that is an old 4:3 monitor)

I am NOT using VGA, but I do have different ports being used (DVI & HDMI
on box).

Do note: The HDMI cable is HDMI connector on computer end, but is DVI
on the monitor-end of the cable; both my monitors are using DVI
connectors (both monitors too old for HDMI)

---

In working out which cable went to each monitor I booted installed
system and paused it at grub, i disconnected the HDMI (to see which
display went dark), then re-inserted cable and reboot into live media

today the lubuntu 20240916 LIVE media displayed on both monitors??
exited

rebooted to grub (debian testing/sid owns grub on box) & selected
lubuntu oracular (installed system mentioned in report) and system
booted up with both displays working (sddm & lubuntu session) ??

Only changes being
- different day
- both ACER & DELL monitors were turned off & turned back on (hoping it'd tell
me which cable was being used; as monitors are connected to two boxes & set to
auto)
- HDMI cable unplugged from box; delay (checking which monitor went dark) &
reconnect cable

YET i can't re-create what I did on original bug report???

Again on
- dell [optiplex] 780 (c2q-q9400, 8gb, amd/ati cedar radeon hd
5000/6000/7350/8350)

I'm tempted to mark this bug as incomplete given today's testing.. but
I'll re-test when I can.

Title:
lubuntu oracular 6.11 kernel; 1 display 'cannot display' & unusable on
  LIVE

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  New
Status in linux source package in Oracular:
  New

Bug description:
Lubuntu oracular live; first daily using 6.11 kernel on this box which
I think is the key difference.

On boot (this is second boot of this ISO) I get on one display a
  message

  1: Auto Detect (Digital Input)
  Cannot Display This Video Model
  Optimum resolution 1280x1024 60Hz

  and display was not usable.
  The other display works...

  ** Expected results

I can use both displays; like I did earlier today OR do if I boot
installed systems (Ubuntu noble, oracular [6.8], jammy, Debian
  testing)

  ** Actual results

I'm limited to one display only; second shows a message & my
LXQt.Monitor.Settings won't let me use the display..

  ** Other thoughts

  - booting this ISO in live mode & using `lshw -C video`, and comparing
with installed systems I don't see any differences; I can save &
append the results if helpful (I didn't save them & was relying on my
  bad.memory.. so not conclusive)

  - I have no issues on NOBLE, JAMMY installs; and hadn't noticed any on
ORACULAR install either; but installed system was still on 6.8
  kernel...

I booted the INSTALLED ORACULAR; applied `apt update; apt full-
upgrade`, when done rebooted and IT HAD THE SAME ISSUE as this live
  system

This is the first time I've experienced this.

This video card is OLD!! and I'm suspicious issue is this real old
video car AND newer kernel; not Ubuntu specific issue; but bug report
allows tracking into future (subsequent ISOs etc)

Users with old hardware like this can still use Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and
  use the GA kernel stack??..
