Same problem on 6.8.0.40 kernel. (Ubuntu 22.04) My device a HP Elitebook 840 G3. I use it with a Dell External monitor, with Displayport output.

WORKAROUND: From what I understand, Canonical's kernel has had some drivers removed, causing this problem. I am now using the kernel as provided by Zabbly [1], which is Canonical's kernel but with the drivers left in.
