Title:
Screen glitches on internal display with kernel 6.8.0-38-generic,
resolved with 6.8.0-31-generic on Ubuntu 24.04

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I am experiencing screen glitches on the internal display of my Dell
XPS 13 9340 laptop when using kernel version 6.8.0-38-generic on
Ubuntu 24.04. The glitches are visible immediately from the login
screen and persist throughout the session.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Boot the system with kernel 6.8.0-38-generic
  2. Observe screen glitches on the internal display

The issue is not present when:
  1. Booting the system with kernel 6.8.0-31-generic
  2. Using an external display (connected via HDMI through a USB-C adapter)

  System information:
  - Device: Dell XPS 13 9340
  - GPU: Intel Arc Graphics (Meteor Lake-P)
  - Driver: i915

I have tested multiple times by switching between kernels, and the results
are consistent:
  - 6.8.0-38-generic: Glitches present
  - 6.8.0-31-generic: No glitches

This suggests a regression in the kernel that affects the display
driver or GPU support for this specific hardware.

I can provide additional logs or perform further tests if required to
  assist in resolving this issue.
