Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

You've filed this bug as a problem with the linux 5.15 (20.04 HWE)
kernel and not the Ubuntu release upgrader tool. The package used for
the initial filing controls what details are useful for exploration of
the actual problem, but no details were obtained relating to the
release-upgrader-tool as you didn't file against that.

Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing
future users from hitting the same bug. It maybe better to classify
this bug report as INVALID, and then file a new bug-report using
`ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader[-core]`, but I'll leave this report
open, and suggest you seek support.

FOr Ubuntu Support you can ask a question (
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu). You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or

Title:
try to upgrade to jammy. Already with (20.4) full disk encryption.
Installation abort with messaging lacking disk space

Status in linux-signed-hwe-5.15 package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  MacBook Air 11"
Only has Ubuntu 20.04 (no other OS), fully encrypted
  Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-5250U CPU @ 1.60GHz × 4
  Disk: 1.0 TB
  OS: Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS
  Gnome version 3.36.8
When running G-parted: Shows disk full with no free space

I was upgrading from 20.04 to 22 (Jammy)

When upgrading to Jammy, installation aborts with message saying there
  is not enough disk space.

There are more than 900 G available

I believe the upgrade is "reading" the available disk space from the
  wrong place

Thanks for all you guys do!
