I've never had this in Ubuntu 21.04 Hirsute. But after upgrading to Ubuntu 21.10 Impish, I had it boot up without WiFi.
In 21.04 Hirsute, here is an example good boot from /var/log/syslog: Oct 21 15:03:08 nary kernel: [ 2.596955] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: enabling device (0000 -> 0002) Oct 21 15:03:08 nary kernel: [ 2.599059] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: pci irq msi oper_irq_mode 2 irq_mode 0 reset_mode 0 Oct 21 15:03:08 nary kernel: [ 2.880904] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: qca9377 hw1.1 target 0x05020001 chip_id 0x003821ff sub 17aa:0901 Oct 21 15:03:08 nary kernel: [ 2.880913] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: kconfig debug 0 debugfs 1 tracing 1 dfs 0 testmode 0 Oct 21 15:03:08 nary kernel: [ 2.881690] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: firmware ver WLAN.TF.2.1-00021-QCARMSWP-1 api 6 features wowlan,ignore-otp crc32 42e41877 Oct 21 15:03:08 nary kernel: [ 2.945483] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: board_file api 2 bmi_id N/A crc32 8aedfa4a Oct 21 15:03:08 nary kernel: [ 3.131331] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: htt-ver 3.56 wmi-op 4 htt-op 3 cal otp max-sta 32 raw 0 hwcrypto 1 Oct 21 15:03:09 nary kernel: [ 3.222767] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0 wlp2s0: renamed from wlan0 Oct 21 15:03:09 nary NetworkManager[673]: <info> [1634788989.1422] rfkill2: found Wi-Fi radio killswitch (at /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.6/0000:02:00.0/ieee80211/phy0/rfkill2) (driver ath10k_pci) In 21.10 Impish, here is a bad boot: Oct 22 07:49:16 nary kernel: [ 2.444721] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: enabling device (0000 -> 0002) Oct 22 07:49:16 nary kernel: [ 2.447680] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: pci irq msi oper_irq_mode 2 irq_mode 0 reset_mode 0 Oct 22 07:49:16 nary kernel: [ 2.740342] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: qca9377 hw1.1 target 0x05020001 chip_id 0x003821ff sub 17aa:0901 Oct 22 07:49:16 nary kernel: [ 2.740348] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: kconfig debug 0 debugfs 1 tracing 1 dfs 0 testmode 0 Oct 22 07:49:16 nary kernel: [ 2.741071] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: firmware ver WLAN.TF.2.1-00021-QCARMSWP-1 api 6 features wowlan,ignore-otp crc32 42e41877 Oct 22 07:49:16 nary kernel: [ 2.804728] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: board_file api 2 bmi_id N/A crc32 8aedfa4a Oct 22 07:49:21 nary kernel: [ 7.967436] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: wmi service ready event not received Oct 22 07:49:21 nary kernel: [ 8.047727] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: could not init core (-110) Oct 22 07:49:21 nary kernel: [ 8.047774] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: could not probe fw (-110) But, I rebooted it, and WiFi came back after the boot.
