Title:
external USB drive hangs and unable to recover without hard reset
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
As also reported on the Raspberry Pi bug report:

I'm experiencing this with all 5.x kernels usually within a day or 2 of a

I've rolled back to 4.19 kernel and error did occur once but appears
to happen less frequently (running for a few days now and hasn't
triggered).
This is on a device that's been running fine since 2012 with none of
these issues until I upgraded to 20.04 in January 2021, at which point
I've had to reboot the device constantly to re-attach to storage.
