This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed- bionic' to 'verification-done-bionic'. If the problem still exists, change the tag 'verification-needed-bionic' to 'verification-failed- bionic'.
If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. FUA on XFS was added upstream in 4.18. FUA on XFS is important for SQL server work loads. [Test Plan] SQLIOSIM (a package from Microsoft) was used to test performance improvements. Tests were run with an XFS file system mounted on a persistent memory block device (PMEM) partition. Performance metrics were found to exhibit satisfactory improvement gains from the GA kernel. [Where problems could occur] Well, these are patches to file system code. They _could_ cause widespread corruption. However, multiple test passes with sqliosim exhibited no issues. [Other Info] See attached sqliosim.cfg.ini configuration file for test run parameters.
