I decided to upgrade to Focal 20.04 and got a failure for an unsolvable conflict. I discovered a ppa for xenial was the cause. I removed that and then retried. (All my ppa were now for Bionic so it seemed safe) sudo do-release-upgrade Checking for a new Ubuntu release Please install all available updates for your release before upgrading. On "sudo apt update" I discovered that numerous pulseaudio applications and dependencies were a problem:"The following packages have been kept back:" dad@dad314159:~$ sudo apt list -a --upgradable Listing... If I were to put Focal ppa in my /etc/apt/sources.list there would likely be havoc! pulseaudio currently does not work so I am using alsa. I do not know haw many other Focal elements will emerge even if I can resolve these, Additionally, I do not know how to fix these anyhow. --- ProblemType: Bug ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.23 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: dad 4960 F.... pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: KDE DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=540c3467-7148-463e-858a-cb1435e4503f MachineType: Dell Inc.
