Public bug reported: At present the Ubuntu 20.04 linux-image-kvm kernel package don't include the tcp_bbr, sch_cake and sch_fq_codel kernel modules. The latter has been default on desktop for a number of release cycles; cake improves on this.
These queueing disciplines are instrumental to reducing queueing latency [bufferbloat.net]; the TCP congestion control algo elevates bandwidth on lossy paths (think clients on radio networks). Enabling these kernel modules will ensure Ubuntu has an optimally competitive network stack in cloud/VM systems. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1916869 Title: linux-image-kvm package missing key network qdisc/TCP CC modules Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: At present the Ubuntu 20.04 linux-image-kvm kernel package don't include the tcp_bbr, sch_cake and sch_fq_codel kernel modules.
