This noise is not coming from my speaker. The noise sounds very "electronic" - as if there is a twitch happening in the actual hardware of the laptop. The noise occurs for less than half a second. It sounds a lot like a hard drive twitch, but the laptop is only equipped with an SSD. When: it occurs always when I launch an application such as Files, Firefox and Hexchat. It also sometimes occurs when I click a link and a new tab is opened in Firefox. Hardware: It is an Acer Swift 7 (SF13-51-MG25). Graphics Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 615 (KBL GT2). CPU Intel® Core™ i5-7Y54 CPU @ 1.20GHz × 4. Ubuntu: it occurs on Ubuntu 20 LTS and the Beta, but did not occur in Ubuntu 19 and also not in Ubuntu 18. All packages have been upgraded. a Re-installation of the OS did not resolve the issue. The issue did not occur when I used Windows 10. --- ProblemType: Bug ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27.6 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: fs 833 F.... pulseaudio CasperMD5CheckResult: skip CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 InstallationDate: Installed on 2020-08-07 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS "Focal Fossa" - Release amd64 (20200731) MachineType: Acer Swift SF713-51 Package: linux (not installed) ProcFB: 0 i915drmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-5.4.0-42-generic root=UUID=967c74b7-e5cd-4f16-8f14-6ce3fea8b041 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.4.0-42.46-generic 5.4.44 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-5.4.0-42-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-5.4.0-42-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.187.2 Tags: focal Uname: Linux 5.4.0-42-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin lxd plugdev sambashare sudo _MarkForUpload: True dmi.bios.date: 08/02/2017 dmi.bios.vendor: Insyde Corp. dmi.bios.version: V1.14 dmi.board.asset.tag: Type2 - Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: Boxster_KL dmi.board.vendor: Acer dmi.board.version: V1.14 dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Chassis Manufacturer dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnInsydeCorp.:bvrV1.14:bd08/02/2017:svnAcer:pnSwiftSF713-51:pvrV1.14:rvnAcer:rnBoxster_KL:rvrV1.14:cvnChassisManufacturer:ct10:cvrChassisVersion: dmi.product.family: KBL dmi.product.name: Swift SF713-51 dmi.product.sku: Swift SF713-51_1137_1.14 dmi.product.version: V1.14 dmi.sys.vendor: Acer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1874898/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
