I have been using Ubuntu since version 16.04. Everytime I do a clean installation of Ubuntu (16.04, 18.04 and 20.04) on this laptop, the integrated webcam and mic works perfectly as intended. As soon as an update is installed (this happens to me now in 20.04) the webcam stops working. At the begining, this problem could be solved by simply uninstalling cheese and restarting: sudo apt-get --purge remove cheese sudo apt-get install cheese But another update on the system and now the webcam is again dead. This happened also in 16.04 and 18.04. No solution on internet seems to work. For now I use Droidcam along my cellphone. I can provide further details.
