You have been subscribed to a public bug: It is often hard to connect secondary monitors to my laptop because it uses nvidia. In ubuntu it worked without needing configuration, however, yesterday it just stopped detecting it. I will start downgrading the latest updates to see if I can find the culprit.
The monitor does detect that something was plugged in. My laptop is "hp omen 15 ax201ns" (Specs: https://support.hp.com/rs-en/document/c05411183) I don't know what package caused the regression, but I attach the history of the last upgrades: Start-Date: 2020-07-22 20:27:48 Commandline: packagekit role='update-packages' Requested-By: joaquin (1000) Upgrade: libavresample-dev:amd64 (7:3.4.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1, 7:3.4.8-0ubuntu0.2), libavformat57:amd64 (7:3.4.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1, 7:3.4.8-0ubuntu0.2), libavfilter6:amd64 (7:3.4.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1, 7:3.4.8-0ubuntu0.2), ffmpeg:amd64 (7:3.4.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1, 7:3.4.8-0ubuntu0.2), libswresample2:amd64 (7:3.4.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1, 7:3.4.8-0ubuntu0.2), libavformat-dev:amd64 (7:3.4.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1, 7:3.4.8-0ubuntu0.2), libswresample-dev:amd64 (7:3.4.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1, 7:3.4.8-0ubuntu0.2), libpostproc54:amd64 (7:3.4.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1, 7:3.4.8-0ubuntu0.2), libavutil-dev:amd64 (7:3.4.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1, 7:3.4.8-0ubuntu0.2), libavcodec-dev:amd64 (7:3.4.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1, 7:3.4.8-0ubuntu0.2), libavcodec57:amd64 (7:3.4.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1, 7:3.4.8-0ubuntu0.2), libavutil55:amd64 (7:3.4.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1, 7:3.4.8-0ubuntu0.2), libavdevice57:amd64 (7:3.4.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1, 7:3.4.8-0ubuntu0.2), libswscale4:amd64 (7:3.4.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1, 7:3.4.8-0ubuntu0.2), libswscale-dev:amd64 (7:3.4.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1, 7:3.4.8-0ubuntu0.2), libavresample3:amd64 (7:3.4.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1, 7:3.4.8-0ubuntu0.2) End-Date: 2020-07-22 20:28:11 Start-Date: 2020-07-27 09:16:45 Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Remove: linux-image-5.3.0-61-generic:amd64 (5.3.0-61.55~18.04.1), linux-modules-extra-5.3.0-61-generic:amd64 (5.3.0-61.55~18.04.1), linux-modules-5.3.0-61-generic:amd64 (5.3.0-61.55~18.04.1) End-Date: 2020-07-27 09:18:33 Start-Date: 2020-07-27 09:18:35 Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Remove: linux-headers-5.3.0-61-generic:amd64 (5.3.0-61.55~18.04.1) End-Date: 2020-07-27 09:19:08 Start-Date: 2020-07-27 09:19:09 Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Remove: linux-headers-5.3.0-61:amd64 (5.3.0-61.55~18.04.1) End-Date: 2020-07-27 09:19:15 Start-Date: 2020-07-27 09:19:20 Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Upgrade: libseccomp2:amd64 (2.4.3-1ubuntu3.18.04.2, 2.4.3-1ubuntu3.18.04.3) End-Date: 2020-07-27 09:19:24 Start-Date: 2020-07-27 09:19:25 Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Upgrade: libvncclient1:amd64 (0.9.11+dfsg-1ubuntu1.2, 0.9.11+dfsg-1ubuntu1.3) End-Date: 2020-07-27 09:19:32 Start-Date: 2020-07-27 09:19:34 Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Upgrade: openjdk-11-jre-headless:amd64 (11.0.7+10-2ubuntu2~18.04, 11.0.8+10-0ubuntu1~18.04.1), openjdk-11-jre:amd64 (11.0.7+10-2ubuntu2~18.04, 11.0.8+10-0ubuntu1~18.04.1) End-Date: 2020-07-27 09:19:48 Start-Date: 2020-07-27 20:05:42 Commandline: apt-get upgrade Requested-By: joaquin (1000) Upgrade: librsvg2-common:amd64 (2.40.20-2, 2.40.20-2ubuntu0.1), librsvg2-2:amd64 (2.40.20-2, 2.40.20-2ubuntu0.1) End-Date: 2020-07-27 20:05:53 ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment -- after recent upgrade, hdmi secondary monitor is not detected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1889155 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
