PS: just tested with latest vanilla kernel 5.7.9-050709-generic from https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D, things work. It seems there's some issue with 5.4.0-40-generic.

I'm using the tested one "nvidia-driver-435", installed via the GUI tool. Could you report this to Nvidia please ?
