I have very similar problem:
ID 046d:08ad Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Communicate STX 640x480
works with
guvcview
vlc v4l2:///dev/video0
does NOT work with
cheese (not a real problem for me)
MicroSoft Teams / meeting (real problem as distant teaching due
Covid19)
5.4.0-37-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jun 3 18:57:02 UTC 2020 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64
I did not use this cam before, I tried only now in 20.04 focal edition.
As a reference,
ID 046d:0825 Logitech, Inc. HD Webcam C270 1280x720
works with cheese and MicroSoft Teams as well, not only with guvcview
and vlc.
