Hi, Brightness controls work on Ubuntu 12.04 with the raring ringtail kernel 3.8 and the liquorix kernel. 3.12.6. But for the system to launch with the brightness on, the user has to edit /etc/default/grub and change this line like this:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_osi=\"!Windows 2012\"" On Ubuntu 13.10, the brightness controls do not work with these kernel versions. Changing GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT also doesn't work. - kernel 3.11 (the default one) - kernel 3.12.6 (installed with these instructions) - kernel 3.12.6 liquorix Also, /sys/class/backlight is empty on 13.10, while on 12.0.4.3 it has two folders "acpi_video0" and "intel_backlight" ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1258058 Title: 10de:0fe4 [Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P] Brightness control no effect on screen Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Brightness control no effect on screen, I managed to get control over brightness by using xbacklight.
