Xserver crashes after resuming from sleep

Bug description:
I am experiencing frequent Gnome-Shell crashes when resuming from sleep mode.
The screen is flickering and Gnome-Shell is creating a new session instead of
restoring the old one.
After investigation with the Gnome team, we realized that the real issue is
the X server crashing:

The log messages suggest that this issue might be related to the
Nvidia driver:
