Title:
  nouveau fails unless nvidia drivers are 1st installed, then removed.
  Only lasts for warm restarts, not cold boot

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
  On a nvidia only laptop (NVIDIA GP106M) by default an install uses
  llvmpipe  -

  $ inxi -G
  Graphics:
    Device-1: NVIDIA GP106M [GeForce GTX 1060 Mobile] driver: nouveau
    v: kernel
    Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.4 driver: modesetting,nouveau
    unloaded: fbdev,vesa resolution: 1920x1080~60Hz
    OpenGL: renderer: llvmpipe (LLVM 8.0 256 bits) v: 3.3 Mesa 19.0.1

  If nvidia drivers are installed, reboot, nvidia drivers removed,
  reboot then nouveau (NV136) is used.

  $ inxi -G
  Graphics:
    Device-1: NVIDIA GP106M [GeForce GTX 1060 Mobile] driver: nouveau
    v: kernel
    Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.4 driver: nouveau
    unloaded: fbdev,modesetting,vesa resolution: 1920x1080~60Hz
    OpenGL: renderer: NV136 v: 4.3 Mesa 19.0.1

  This continues thru multiple reboots however if machine is shutdown a cold
boot reverts to default behavior, i.e llvmpipe
  Attaching 2 dmesg logs, 1.log is default, 3.log is after nvidia driver
install/remove/warm boots
